Established on May 25, 2012, in Guangzhou, China, the Asian Society of Cryosurgery is the largest and most influential professional organization in the field of Cryosurgery in Asia, boasting over 800 registered members. To date, it has successfully organized eight Asian Cryotherapy Academic Conferences and more than a hundred academic exchanges of various scales. The expert consensus on cryoablation for lung cancer, liver cancer, bone and soft tissue tumors, and pancreatic cancer, led by the society, has been published in domestic and international journals and widely cited, making significant contributions to the promotion and application of tumor cryoablation therapy.
In accordance with the bylaws of the ACS, every two years the Society will undergo a renewal process to determine the new leadership group of the Society. From December 13th to 14th, the 9th Academic Conference of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery (ASC) and the 7th Transition Meeting of the Council were grandly convened in Guangzhou, attracting over 300 participants. During the conference, Professor Li Jiaping was elected as the new President of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery with a significant majority of votes. The society also announced the establishment of its first Supervisory Board, with Professor Xiao Yueyong appointed as the inaugural chairman.

The entire event was personally presided over by Professor Xu Kecheng, the Honorary President of the society and one of the founders of the ASC, who commenced the proceedings with an important speech.

Following that, Professor Wang Hongwu presented a summary of the activities and accomplishments of the previous term, offering a comprehensive overview of the society’s work over the last two years.

Following this, the election process began, marked by a sense of anticipation. The host randomly selected three committee members to act as scrutineers. The attending committee members then completed their paper ballots, which were subsequently collected and counted by the scrutineers.

Following a rigorous review and count, the scrutineers disclosed the voting results for each candidate. Subsequently, Dean Xu Kecheng formally announced the new leadership team of the ASC. Professor Li Jiaping was named the new President, with Professors Guo Wei, Huang Kaiwen (from Taiwan, China), Chin Kin Fah (from Malaysia), Yang Po, Liang Bing, Liao Jiangrong, Zhang Xiao, Zhang Nan, and Dmitrii A. Ionkin (from Russia) assuming the roles of Vice Presidents.

At the meeting, Professor Li Jiaping, the newly installed ASC President, delivered an inspiring inaugural address. He also proposed and successfully appointed Professors Nikolai N. Korpan, Xu Kecheng, Xiao Yueyong, Wang Hongwu, and Li Chengli as Honorary Presidents. Professors Barlian Sutedja (from Indonesia), Li Wentao, and Niu Lizhi were named as advisors to the society. Furthermore, Ms. Zhong Jiayan, the president of the Indonesian Overseas Chinese Federation, was extended a special invitation to serve as a dedicated advisor for international matters. According to reports, this conference not only gathered experts and scholars in the field of cryoablation from both within and outside of China for extensive and profound academic exchanges and collaborations but also, after a gap of two years, formed a new council term and established a supervisory board. Professor Xiao Yueyong from the Department of Radiology at the First Medical Center of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Supervisory Board. The supervisory board is tasked with devising long-term strategic and policy orientations for the Asian Society of Cryotherapy, ensuring alignment with the society’s vision and mission, and providing critical assurance for its healthy development. During the event, Professor Xu Kecheng also awarded the appointment certificates to the first supervisory board members. Professor Xiao Yueyong, the first supervisory board chair, also elaborated on the functions of the supervisory board.

To conclude the event, the staff arranged for a group photo session with all participants, preserving a snapshot of this historic occasion, which signified the successful culmination of the transition meeting.

On December 14th, as scheduled, the 9th Academic Conference of the ASC took place. The event began with the showing of an engaging promotional video that depicted the history and heritage of the ASC to the expert participants. Following introductions by the host, addresses were delivered by Honorary Presidents Nikolai Korpan, Xu Kecheng, and Xiao Yueyong, ASC President Li Jiaping, and Conference Chairman Wang Hongwu.
To recognize individuals' contributions to the society, outstanding individuals were honored internally by the ASC Society.
Additionally, Wang Hongwu announced the launch of his new book, “Tumor Ultra-low Temperature Cryotherapy Techniques (Second Edition)” at the conference, providing valuable educational resources for medical professionals and scholars.

Academic Exchange Conference
The rich academic exchanges kicked off the conference, which was divided into one keynote lecture session and two thematic sessions, with all the academic exchanges adopting English speeches and discussions. In the subsequent one-day academic activities, a total of 57 speakers from mainland China and Taiwan, Austria, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, Ukraine and Germany gave a wonderful academic feast for the participating members, and nearly 300 colleagues attended the academic activities. The content of the academic activities basically covered the most advanced cryomedicine technology, cryotherapy concepts and cutting-edge basic knowledge in the world. Experts of different colors and nationalities gathered together for extensive and in-depth academic exchanges to jointly focus on and support the development of cryonics through the Asian Cryotherapy Society. During the meeting, experts and scholars from many Asian countries made presentations and discussions, and shared new concepts, new ideas and new methods in the field of cryotherapy, which actively promoted the vigorous development of cryotherapy in Asia.
