The preparatory meeting for the Asian Society of Cryosurgery is being held in the 4th September 2010. We have 20 representative from 6 different countries and regions of Asia like China, Korea, Japan, Austria and Indonesia attending the meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to help set up the Asian Society of Cryosurgery, the meeting agenda includes the rules and regulation of the society and the impact that it is going to bring towards the development of the practice of cryosurgery as an alternative treatment for cancer. The meeting was adjourned with the agreement of all attendees on the rules and regulations of the society.
The establishment of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery will help improve the development and research in cryosurgery. Jiren Zhang, M.D. from China has been elected as the committee chairperson. Lizhi Niu, M.D. (China), Qing Wu, M.D. (China) and Masashi Watanabe, M.D. (Japan) have been chosen as the vice committee chairperson. The elected secretary for the committee are Cho Tak Shiu, M.D. (China, Hong Kong) and Kaiwen Hu, M.D. (China). Kecheng Xu M.D. (China), Nikolai N. Korpan, M.D (Austria) and Sajio Sumida (Japan) were elected as the honorary chairperson for the committee. There were 17 committee members for the committee, they are Ji-hyung Kim, M.D. (Korea), Balian Sutedja, M.D. (Indonesia),Yasuyuki Sugiyama, M.D (Japan), Vladimir Shafranov , M.D. (Russia) and Vladimir Ivanovich Kochenov, M.D. (Russia). The society will be registered in Hong Kong, China.
Another meeting agenda covered by the meeting was the member constitution of the society, all members have agreed that all experts in the field related to cryosurgery or other cryogenic technology are welcomed to be a part of the society. Asides, the committee planned to have the first Asia Cryosurgery Forum in September 2011.
